I like this and would will be downloading. Its always good to have these sort of things while you are on the move and I dont always have my computer with me.

I wish I could think of a good iphone app and make lots of money though…Hmmmm

I think the iphone app is a great way to find property and also the next generation of house buyers are more than likely going to have iphones. I agree that if you see a property on a street this is instantly one of the best ways to see all about the property

Yes I can see how that would be handy, but you would have still needed the Right Move App to be installed first, and then you have to load, and search through lots of results Right Move will try to upsell you.

As you said, far easier to ignore tha App and just call the agent! They often just say the property 'just sold' and they're waiting for the board to be removed, but if you register they have lots of 'similar' properties they can mail you about.

Windows Mobile devices have long had a feature that allow you to take a photo of things like signs, it'll recognise the next/numbers, and save them into your tasks, contacts, or dial for you.

I agree with you, the rightmove app is very nice. thinking as a user – what i like most, is when i'm on the street, i see a for sale sign, i go to rightmove and get more details on the property with my iphone – sweet – or i could just call the agent with my iphone – even sweeter !!!

I'd be interested to know how many people actually use these apps, or would find them useful.

In my mind, I'm not sure I would go to the effort to download these programs from the AppStore and install them to my iPhone only to get poor interactivity with the results, when I could just spend that time visiting the portal websites on the computer itself, and at least view the results full sized.

I'm not sure if I can think of any time that I'd want to search for somewhere to live out and about in a pub or on the street.

Flat finding is something I might do on the weekend, evening, or when I'm at work 'working', and only if I had to find somewhere to live.

I do believe these sites just want to jump on the iPhone boom and seem trendy.

As for the mobile compatible sites, this is much better as at least those without iPhones can use them (iPhones are great but they are certainly not the only phone on the market that has web access).

Modern smart phones and net books however are still powerful enough to render the actual 'real' site, and if they are designed and programmed properly, they will still work on their smaller screens.

I think if you were to go out and ask people what would make property portals better, I doubt any of them would say 'iPhone Apps'.
